Songwriting Lessons
Danielle Dougherty

Danielle Dougherty, a Philadelphia based jazz vocalist, always jokes that she learned to sing shortly after she learned to talk. After performances with the Philadelphia All City Jazz Band in high school, Danielle began to move towards forming her own band of musicians to play music with, which she found in abundance at Temple University. She graduated in May 2021 with her Bachelors in Music and she is currently pursuing her Masters in Jazz Studies and Vocal Performance. She feels lucky to renew her love of this music every day in her classes, lessons, and ensembles. She has studied voice with Temple faculty Justin Faulkner, Bruce Barth, and Najwa Parkins. Danielle is the vocalist for the Temple University Jazz Band under the instruction of professional trumpeter, Terell Stafford. She recorded with the Big Band on their album, “Without You, No Me” in May 2021. With the Big Band, she has performed at Lincoln Center and Dizzy’s Club in New York City. Danielle also performs throughout the tri-state area in wedding bands as well as with her own ensemble at clubs like Chris’ Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia. From August 2019-present day, Danielle has recorded vocals on over 40 tracks for pianist Micah Graves’  project “Not For the Ordinary.” The albums “Med Nama”, “In My Fairytale”, and “Pawns” were released in 2021, and the latest installation, “Crossroads” is set to release this year.
